  Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should I order my dress?
Please allow us as much time as possible. Most designers quote delivery times of 16 - 20 weeks. At The Bridal Studio we like to receive all gowns 3 months prior to the date of your wedding, to ensure enough time for our alterations team to create a perfect fit.

2. Do I need an appointment?
An appointment is necessary for a more personal service. A bridal consultant will listen to your ideas, focus on your needs and help you choose a selection of gowns to try on. If you can schedule a weekday appointment you will find there is a greater availability and more privacy. Saturday appointments are scheduled on the hour, every hour and tend to be booked weeks in advance.

3. Why do I need to get measured now if I intend to lose weight?
Gowns are not made to your exact measurements. We will measure bust, waist and hip. Different designers use different sizing methods and it is important that we ensure the best possible fit for you. Our alterations team have wide experience and will advise on change possibilities if your measurements change dramatically after ordering.

4. When do I start my fittings?
When your gown arrives we will call you to schedule your first fitting. Alterations must begin no later than six weeks before your wedding. The exact shoes and underwear must be worn for your fittings as they are very important for a proper fit. If you are unable to find these before your fitting, appointments will have to be rescheduled. We have an excellent range of shoes at The Bridal Studio and would be happy to recommend bridal underwear specialists to you.

5. Can I cancel my dress?
Your gown has been custom ordered for you, therefore no cancellation can be accepted after your gown is ordered. Please read your contract carefully and sign it. By doing so you agree to style, size, colour, price and our store policy.

6. Are there any extra charges?
Manufacturers charge extra for large sizes, special lengths and rush deliveries. Alteration charges are based on the length of time taken by our seamstress to complete your changes. Pressing and steaming is free of charge.

7. Can I get swatches for colour matching?
Most designers of bridesmaids dresses will supply a swatch for you on receipt of your order. Slight variations in colour may occur between swatches, samples and actual gowns. All dresses ordered at the same time from the same manufacturers will be cut from the same dye lot of fabric. Our simple business philosophy is that customer service still counts. Our bridal consultants will strive to make your visit to us an enjoyable experience. We pride ourselves on the relationships and friendships we have made in the business. We hope we can be of service to you.
